The Land Survey went into staff mode on Thursday.
The reason is that flaws were discovered in the authority’s handling of public documents.
– It is an internal security incident, I cannot go into details for security reasons, says Ulf Boivie, press officer at Lantmäteriet.
On Friday, the Land Survey announced that the authority is changing its routines regarding access to public documents and information – for security reasons.
“This means that access to certain information in a number of Lantmäteriet’s digital services is turned off or restricted,” writes Lantmäteriet in a press release.
“No foreign power is behind”
The background is that the Land Survey has noticed “deficiencies” in the handling of the release of public documents, which has led to classified information being available in some of the authority’s external digital services.
– It is not a foreign power that is behind it. It is an internal security incident that was discovered in routines internally, says Ulf Boivie, press officer at Lantmäteriet.
The problem known since March
It was in March this year that the authority’s security organization became aware of the deficiencies. But only on Thursday did they go up to staff mode.
According to Ulf Boivie, the staff position was only required when the closure of the relevant services was to be carried out.
“It has been important to dimension the measures so that they are as effective as possible and that the effects at the same time have as little negative impact as possible,” he writes in an email.
The Land Survey does not want to answer questions about what type of classified information was available or who may have had access to the documents.
“For security reasons, it is not possible to answer that,” writes Ulf Boivie.
