Jymy-Jussit, fighting against relegation in the men’s Superpesis, lost for the fourth time in a row.
Kiteen Pallo’s men are rushing strongly towards the upper final series formed by the top seven of Superpesis. KiPa beat Seinäjoki’s Jymy-Jussit 2–0 (4–2, 2–1) in the only main series match on Wednesday, worth three points.
The home win was the fourth in a row for KiPa, who last lost points at their Rantakentä stadium in May. Stuck in the fight against relegation, Jymy-Jussit missed points for the fourth time in a row.
The visitors fell to a weaker takedown power after KiPa took three-point situations to their name only 14–11. The opening inning ended with three single runs by the hosts in the second inning starter. In the second period, Jymy-Jussit persisted Aapo Hiltunen with a homer in the fourth inning to tie the game, until KiPa secured the full three-point pot with the last tie. Jiri Pippola returned home Otto Kauppinen in the event of a single fire with an unmarked pin hole.
KiPa’s awardees were the one-run hitter Anttoni Jakobsson (at 6/9) and locker Joona Lehtinen (at 0/1).
From the Seinäjokis, the fuel line stood out Veeti Kettunen (at 2/5) and a leadoff wildcard that brought in one run Justus Teppo (at 5/5). Jymy-Jussit heads to Mehtimäki in Joensuu on Thursday.
One and a half week’s end of the initial series
There is a week and a half left before the start of the regular season. After the final round on Sunday, July 28, the top seven will play in a simple upper secondary series with the points from the first series standing.
The last of the upper secondary series and the three best of the lower secondary series, which is also played as a single, make it to the qualifying round of the playoffs. From that, two teams get into the quarterfinals.
Only the last-place team in the lower end of the series and directly relegated to Ykköspesis ends in the regular season. The teams placed 11th and 12th play a series of matches, the loser of which has to defend their place in the main series against the winner of Ykköspesis.
The number of Superpesis teams will decrease by one to 12 by the summer of 2025.
Women’s Superpesis
In the Women’s Super Pes, league leader Lapuan Virki beat Joensuu Maila 2–0 (4–2, 7–1).
Fera Raumalta took care of the victory in the away team, when Hamina’s Palllolijat fell at the end of the home kick competition 1–2K (2–1, 1–3, 1–3k)
Series champion Manse PP punished Pöytä, which is at the bottom of the series, 2–0 (5–2, 3–1).
