It was January 10, 2004 that Alexandra Fossmo was shot dead in his home in the small town of Knutby east of Uppsala.
Later, her husband was convicted as well as the pastor Helge Fossmo for persuading Sara Svensson, referred to in the media as “the nanny”, to commit the murder. She was also convicted of attempted murder of the neighbor Daniel Linde.
All those involved in what later became known as the “Knutby drama” were members of the free church congregation Knutby Philadelphia, which today has been disbanded.
But what do the former members actually do today? UNT have taken a closer look at the matter.
Helge Fossmo today: Released and living with protected personal data
Helge Fossmo, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for incitement to murder and attempted murder, served 18 years at Kumlaanstalten before being paroled in January 2023.

Nowadays, Fossmo, whose name is something else today, has protected personal data, but according to information to UNT, he will work in a shop in southern Sweden.

Sara Svensson today: Moved and member of a new free church
Sara Svensson, who confessed to both murder and attempted murder, was sentenced to forensic psychiatric care, but was released in 2011. Since then, Svensson, who appeared in the documentary series “Knutby: I blind tro” on HBO, has moved to Småland.

According to Aftonbladet, the former nanny, who studied at folk high school and, among other things, worked in a shop, should now be part of another free church.

Åsa Waldau today: Changed name and moved
Åsa Waldau was Helge Fossmo’s sister-in-law and one of the most prominent people in the congregation in Knutby, where she was called the “Bride of Christ” by the inner circle because it was believed that she was betrothed to Jesus.
Waldau, who has today changed his last name, was convicted in 2020 of eight counts of assault and, according to several members, is said to have ruled the congregation with an iron fist. The penalty was a suspended sentence and community service.

Prior to that, she wrote, among other things, a children’s book, released music and wrote the biography “Bride of Christ – who can be trusted?”. In 2016 she was forced to leave Knutby and now she lives in Central Sweden.

Urban Fält today: Divorced father of two
Urban Field where became a pastor in the Knutby congregation in connection with Helge Fossmo being imprisoned and, like Åsa Waldau, became one of the most influential people in the sect.
In 2020, Fält was sentenced to a suspended sentence and community service for sexual exploitation of a person in a dependent position. This after taking advantage of a 17-year-old member of the congregation.

Nowadays, Fält, who is a father of two, is divorced and lives alone in an apartment in Central Sweden.

Daniel Linde today: Remarried with two children
Daniel Linde miraculously survived the assassination attempt in Knutby. At the time he was married to the sister of Åsa Waldau’s husband at the time – Patrick Waldau – but the couple have gone their separate ways since the Knutby drama.
Today, Linde is remarried and the father of two children.
Patrik and Maria Waldau today: Formed a family and moved
Patrik Waldau was married to Åsa Waldau between 1994 and 2016, but is today married to Maria Waldauearlier Larssonas she too was part of the Knutby congregation and more specifically acted as one of the “handmaidens” of Christ’s bride.

Patrik Waldau testified about the abuses in the congregation in the trial against, among others, Åsa Waldau, and together with Mrs. Maria Waldau, he has participated in the Commission review.
Today, the married couple live outside Gothenburg and have two children together.

Emma and Peter Gembäck: Running a business
The couple Emma and Peter Gembäck were both pastors in the Knutby congregation and must have belonged to Åsa Waldau’s inner circle.

After the murder of Alexandra Fossmo, Emma and Peter Gembäck continued to be active within the congregation. But in 2017, the latter reported himself to the police, as well as pastors Urban Fält and Åsa Waldau, who, as previously mentioned, were convicted of sexual exploitation of a dependent person and assault, respectively.
Peter Gembäck himself was convicted of assault and illegal coercion in 2020 and the penalty was a suspended sentence and daily fines.

The Gembäck couple moved from Knutby to Stockholm in 2021. Today they run the company Gemback in Strömma ABwho will engage in “building carpentry work, running podcasts, lectures and writing and related activities”.
Emma Gembäck ran the podcast “Sektpodden” for several years.
Kim Wincent today: Trained as a nurse
Also Kim Vincent was pastor in Knutby Philadelphia and became spokesperson for the congregation after the murder of Alexandra Fossmo.
According to The evening paper Wincent is said to have trained as a nurse after leaving the parish, but he still lives in the Uppland town.
