The king’s wonderful action in the stands when Armand Duplantis breaks a new world record causes all Swedes to react: “It means a lot”

On Monday, the Swedish royal couple landed in Paris to follow the last week of the 2024 Summer Olympics. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia first to hit the double gold hero Sarah Sjostrom during the day.

And the Swedish king was certainly not to be disappointed on the evening when Duplantis put on a rarely seen display and had the whole Stade de France boiling. The 24-year-old won another Olympic gold and then he finished it all by raising the bar to 6.25 meters and breaking a new world record in front of full ecstasy in the stands.

The royal couple really came alive from the stands when they followed Mondo’s record chase on Monday night. The most played was the King who really showed his full emotional register of nervousness and enormous joy, several pictures are being spread right now of Carl XVI Gustaf in total euphoria when Duplantis breaks a new world record and it is so wonderful to see.
– It is fantastic that the royal family is here and that they really dare to live with and let everything go. Incredibly lovely, says Sweden’s national team captain Kajsa Bergqvist to Expressen.

After the pole vault final, the royal couple was quickly down to congratulate the newly crowned Olympic champion on an unforgettable sporting feat.
– I don’t really remember what he said. I think he said congratulations, says Duplantis, who received a nice hug from the King, to the evening newspaper.
– I am very grateful that he was here and I hope he liked the show, I am very grateful that they came here and supported me. It means a lot to me to have all the Swedes here in the arena. It’s special.

The court’s information manager Margaret Thorgren also admits that the King “feels great pride for Sweden”.
– And congratulations to Armand Duplantis on the second Olympic gold in a row and on another new world record. Fantastic!, she tells the newspaper.
