At least not for Prince Daniel. When Prince Daniel married Crown Princess Victoria in 2010, he had to say goodbye to a lot of things that you might otherwise take for granted in everyday life.
According to Swedish Women’s Magazine among other things, the prince had to say goodbye to the surname Westling. But also all possible dreams of having a full-time job. It might sound like a dream to some.
But there are some of the bans that have drawn extra attention from readers.

Friends are affected
On a personal level, Daniel has really had to adjust his circle of friends. His closest friends are now mainly those close to Crown Princess Victoria.
Herman Lindqvisthistorian and columnist at Svensk Damtidnings, believes that it is a security issue.
– He cannot trust all people, there will always be those who approach because they want to nestle in, get close to the prince, befriend him, says Lindqvist.

Säpo involved
Other everyday activities are also affected. Before he can participate in activities or become a member of any association, Säpo must first review and approve it.
According to Lindqvist, the prince cannot sign up anyway for activities that involve other people just because he would like to pursue a certain thing or hobby.
– Säpo must first check everything. He cannot become a member of any association or similar without first examining whether it is suitable for a person from the royal family, says Herman Lindqvist.
