The King in London does not meet Queen Elizabeth

In 1959 and 1963, Queen Elizabeth II was absent from giving her speech to open the parliamentary year with reference to pregnancies. Therefore, it was historic this year when instead the eldest son Prince Charles held “Queen’s Speech” for both chambers on May 10.

The court stated “temporary problems to move” as the cause and it is also health reasons that the 96-year-old will not meet Carl XVI Gustaf and Silvia on Friday. The Swedish royal couple is in the UK and was on Thursday and saw the concert “Abba Voyage”.

Today, Friday, the couple will attend the Swedish Chamber of Commerce’s annual sustainability conference Impact. In addition, they will be present when Minister of Education Anna Ekström meets with the British Minister of Innovation George Freeman to sign a so-called Memorandum of Understanding for the interdisciplinary research branch of life science at Sweden’s ambassadorial residence in London.
