PSG visited Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League.
Then a group of children got a memory for life.
The video of the reaction of the young football supporters has caused an entire football world to melt.
Many people dream of meeting their idol. And in the world of football, there are many, many people who have Lionel Messi as their great role model. The Argentine is considered by many to be the greatest footballer of all time, and he has completely dominated for more than 15 years. Even though he has now left Barcelona, he continues to rack up goals and points, and yesterday’s match was no exception.
Got to see the big idol
The giant PSG visited Maccabi Haifa in the second round of the Champions League group stage, in Israel, and although the home team actually took the lead in the match, it was the French who had to go home with three points. The team’s fantastic front trio of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar each scored a goal in the match which ended 3-1. But it was something completely different that the football world talked about afterwards. Namely what happened before the match.
As usual, a bunch of kids were on the pitch before the game, to accompany the players out and stand in front during the classic anthem. It is the dream of many to step out onto the pitch with the great players, and these children in particular had the luck of a lifetime. Some got to stand side by side next to Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, and there is no doubt how much that meant.
Wonderful pictures
Clips were shared on social media of the children’s absolutely wonderful reaction when they actually saw that it was Lionel Messi coming towards them, and they could only gape in admiration. As soon as Messi got close, several people also ran over to give him a hug, and then more hugs followed with Kylian Mbappé. Talk about a memory for life, which the children will soon forget.
Lionel Messi has been praised for his actions towards the children, that he actually took the little time to embrace the children, and one can only agree that these are the most beautiful images of the year in the world of football.
“This is exactly why we love this sport,” writes journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
