The Iranian regime is mocked on social media

Iran’s regime has described this weekend’s attack on Israel as successful – while Israel says 99 percent of the airstrikes have been stopped.

– The regime and its supporters believe that they have caused great damage to Israel, says Arvin Khoshnood

Khoshnood believes that many regime-critical Iranians mock and criticize the attack.

– They show sympathies towards Israel and its citizens. It is believed that the Islamic regime is behind most of the problems in the Middle East.

The Iranian regime’s intelligence service has called on citizens to identify those who show support for Israel. However, the criticism does not seem to have been able to be stopped, neither by the statements of the intelligence services nor by the fact that most major social media giants are blocked in Iran.

During Sunday, the hashtag “IraniansStandWithIsrael” flared up on the platform X. Roughly 30 percent of the posts are said to have been posted from Iranian accounts, writes Sky News.

Some hope for an Israeli response

According to Arvin Khoshnood, there is a small percentage of Iranians who hope that Israel will respond to Iran’s attack. They see a potential response from Israel as an opportunity to topple the Iranian regime.

– Some see it as Israel saving the Iranians. Israel’s military and political leadership has been very clear and has been out with information aimed at the Iranian people – that the target is the Islamic Republic.

However, Khoshnood’s assessment is that the majority of Iranians believe that a war would have devastating consequences for the country.

– The regime could also use the war to execute political opponents who are in prison.
