The investigation must investigate the possibility of evicting parents when children commit crimes

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

In July 2022, Magdalena Andersson’s (S) government appointed an investigation that was tasked with reviewing property owners’ possibilities to evict criminal tenants who use the apartment or the surrounding area to commit crimes.

Now the Tidö parties want to investigate whether parents whose children commit crimes should also be able to be evicted more easily.

In an additional directive to the ongoing investigation, it is written that the investigator’s assessment of the tenant’s supervisory responsibility must be designed in the same way when crimes have been committed by a child in the family as when crimes have been committed by other persons for whom the tenant is responsible.

“With today’s decision, we are taking an important step to clarify parents’ responsibilities,” says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) in a written comment to SVT Nyheter.

The investigation must report its results by September 1, 2023 at the latest.
