On Thursday, the international community once again condemned Israel’s military actions, this time targeting a school that served as a civilian shelter in the Nuseirat area of Gaza.
According to the civil defense authorities of Gaza under Hamas, 18 people were killed in the attack, among them six employees of the UN aid organization for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA.
According to UNRWA, it was the single attack that killed the most employees of the organization.
Secretary General of the UN Antonio Guterres said the attack was completely reprehensible. In turn, a statement from Israel’s ally Germany stated that aid workers should not be targeted by rocket fire.
EU foreign policy representative Josep Borrell said the strike showed a disregard for basic principles of international law.
The Israeli armed forces claimed to have carried out a precision strike against terrorists from the extremist organization Hamas, who had a command center in the school area.
