The verdict of the trial of the terrorist attacks of November 13, 2015 was delivered in June, but the Assize Court must rule on Tuesday October 25 on the status of the inhabitants of the building in Saint-Denis where the assault by the forces of the he order was issued on November 18, 2015 against two of the entrenched terrorists. This Saturday, a group of victims of the attacks and residents of the building publish a forum to request their recognition as civil parties to the trial.
On November 18, 2015 in the early morning, five days after the attacks, the assault of the police was launched against a building in Saint-Denis. For seven hours, under heavy fire from the police, the inhabitants remained confined to their homes. Some testified at the trial.
Camille Gardesse, survivor of the attack on the terrace of the café La Belle Équipe, remembers: “ They were confronted with the detonations, the explosion of the explosive belt of one of the terrorists, the shock, the terror of a scene of war in fact. Then, they experienced and they also recounted all their symptoms of post-traumatic stress. »
Unequal treatment
A testimony that echoes what she has experienced, which is why she wants the inhabitants of the building to be recognized as civil parties. A status that is not only symbolic, she explains. “ This recognition allows and opens the way to support from the psychological point of view, to a reparation, and which indeed is not only symbolic, which can also be a material reparation, or in many areas. »
For her, this recognition would also make it possible to repair a certain inequality of treatment of the victims of the attacks.
