The industries with the longest working week they work

In recent weeks, a four-day working week has become relevant in Sweden. The organization 4 day week is in the process of recruiting employers for a study where shorter working weeks are tested. Four-day working weeks have previously been tried in, among other places, the United Kingdom, the United States and Ireland.

– Many businesses have reported increased productivity, improved engagement and collaboration, the project manager said Anna-Carin Alderin Then for News24.

Since 1970, the ceiling for the number of hours worked per week has been 40 hours. And this is also how it looks for the vast majority of people who work during the day and within the collective agreement.

However, it varies between industries, for more or less natural reasons.

Those who are part of the Academic Union SSR’s, Akavia’s, Seko’s and Sweden’s engineers’ agreement work an average of 39 hours and 45 minutes per week, something that a survey from Dagens Arena has shown.

At the banks, the average is somewhat lower.

Bank clerks work an average of 38.5 hours a week. In the nearby insurance industry, people work 38 hours and 45 minutes a week.

Mikael Anderssonhead of negotiations at Akavia, believes it is due to the flexibility in both the banking and insurance industries.

– There are also often local working time agreements. Many of the members have unregulated working hours where they take independent responsibility for their tasks, he tells Dagens Arena.

But those who work the least number of hours a week are those who work in shifts.

The vast majority of shift workers have a minimum limit of 36 working hours a week. Those who work in shifts and are part of the Academic Union SSR’s agreement have a minimum level of 34 hours and 20 minutes, according to the mapping from Today’s Arena.
