During the spring, there have been reports of bankruptcies in several industries. Both long-established companies, royal court suppliers and popular cafes have had to close again. New statistics produced by Statistics Norway also show that the number of young unemployed people in Sweden is increasing.

So new graduates get jobs after graduation
But despite many bankruptcies, there are several industries that are crying out for people right now, especially for those who are recent graduates. According to the University Chancellor’s Office (UKÄ), 92 percent of newly graduated civil engineers get a job only shortly after their education.
And according to the statistics produced by Jobbland, it is primarily job advertisements looking for civil engineers that are out on the market right now.
– Of the big cities, Stockholm and Gothenburg have had the largest range of advertised engineering jobs for recent graduates, while Malmö does not really offer the same opportunities. This is due, for example, to the fact that Stockholm, with its strong tech sector, and Gothenburg, with its focus on industry, have a greater demand for engineering expertise. Malmö, on the other hand, has a different business structure and is affected by its proximity to Copenhagen, says Anita Rae, CEO Job land Sweden.

obbland has produced a list, based on the number of job advertisements available for various vocational degrees, between January 1 and May 31, 2024 on their platform.
In addition to newly graduated civil engineers, there are also advertisements for newly graduated physiotherapists on the list. A newly graduated physiotherapist earns an average of SEK 35,700 a month, which is among the lowest salaries among graduate professions, according to Job land.
