The 26-year-old is the world’s best goalscorer last year – and outshines Erling Haaland himself.

Last season was a resounding success for Viktor Gyökeres who absolutely poured in goals for his Sporting Lisbon and established himself as one of the world’s best strikers. Then there were 32 goals in 35 games and the new season in Portugal has started just as brilliantly.

Gyökere’s success

In the last league game on Friday night, the Swede scored 2-0 and thus his eighth league goal in just five games. Sporting have started with five straight wins and Gyökeres lead the scoring league by far, with twice as many goals as the runner-up.

But now numbers have also been released on how incredibly good the 26-year-old has been in the past year, the fact is that he has actually been the world’s best striker for the past 365 days. Because no other goal king in football Europe has scored more goals than Gyökeres, see the picture below.

Best in the world

The English newspaper The Sun has counted on all the goals and superstars such as Robert Lewandowski (31 goals), Mohamed Salah (32 goals), Erling Haaland (46 goals), Kylian Mbappé (50 goals) and Harry Kane (51 goals) makes the top 10 list.
