Storm Idalia, which made landfall in Florida on Wednesday, August 30, caused significant damage in the state. Idalia, which had been classified as a Category 3 hurricane before its arrival, was downgraded to a tropical storm, but it retained destructive power. It caused violent gusts of wind at nearly 200 km / h, and flooding.
The wind damaged buildings, trees and power lines. The floods submerged homes and businesses, and cut off roads. A tornado even hit the community of Goose Creek. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reported two deaths, but the human toll is not yet final.
