Four days after the vote to appoint the first secretary of the Socialist Party, the current boss of the PS Olivier Faure and the mayor of Rouen Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, still claim victory. The two men saw each other during the afternoon of Monday, January 23 at the party headquarters, along with the representative of the third list in Congress, Hélène Geoffroy. Objective: to emerge from the crisis from above. But it is not won.
” I salute Hélène and I salute Nicolas. A kiss to one, a handshake to the other and Olivier Faure politely shows the way out. We do not separate angry, but neither are we reconciled. Nicolas Mayer Rossignol:
“ It was not expected, simply everyone expresses himself with his sincerity quite simply. And the question is: does everyone want to find the way to both transparency and democracy? »
A path that seems decidedly very narrow, because if everyone had come with their proposals – like Hélène Geoffroy: ” Me, I said clearly that at the moment of blocking where we are, it seems to me that the best solution is to come back in front of the militants and to vote -, the answer in each of the camps was always the same: “no”.
” It does not exist “
Oliver Faure: I proposed to Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol to be head of the list in the European elections, which he declined. They asked me to organize a board, I don’t see how we have four first secretaries. I don’t know of any town hall, department or region with four regional presidents, four department presidents, four mayors, that doesn’t exist. »
The three clans have planned to talk to each other again, and possibly to meet again before Friday, the date of the start of the Party Congress in Marseille. A potentially explosive meeting if no agreement is reached by then.
