The death of Nahel, killed by a police officer on June 27, generated violent outbursts and scenes of riots in several cities in France: Nanterre, Argenteuil, Clichy, Saint-Denis, Neuilly-sur-Marne, but also in Lyon , Lille, Roubaix, Toulouse, Dijon, Nice and Strasbourg. The nights from Tuesday to Wednesday, then from Wednesday to Thursday were marked by destruction and damage to public property: bus stops, public transport, town halls, schools, police stations.
