The pharmacist’s diaries are on everyone’s lips right now. The first season of the anime was currently airing on Crunchyroll, which is why many fans are now switching to the manga to continue following the story. But the manga’s artist has just been prosecuted because she missed something important.
What happened to the illustrator? Nekokurage, whose real name is Erika Ikeda, is responsible for the drawings for The Apothecary’s Diaries. The Fukuoka Region Tax Authority announced on April 1 that the artist was charged with violating the income tax law on February 29.
The anime for The Pharmacist’s Diaries is currently enjoying great success:
The illustrator of The Pharmacist’s Diaries evaded taxes
Why didn’t she declare her income? According to NHK, Ikeda simply failed to file tax returns. She was aware that she would have had to file a tax return. But she was so busy with the manga that she didn’t have time to talk to the tax advisor.
She posted her apology on X and Twitter:
What kind of punishment did she receive? After receiving instructions from the tax office, she paid the taxes and penalties. She has also hired a tax advisor to help her file taxes on time. She has not communicated any further consequences to the public.
She added that this would be a purely personal matter. The tax evasion would have nothing to do with the original author of “The Pharmacist’s Diaries.” And as it turns out, the tax evasion will have no consequences for the light novel, the manga and the currently very popular anime.
The Apothecary’s Diaries originally began as a light novel written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Megumi Matsuda. Nekokurage is responsible for the drawings of the subsequent manga, with Itsuki Nanao serving as the author.
Where can I watch the anime? The Pharmacist’s Diaries can currently be seen on Crunchyroll. All episodes of the first season are on the platform. At the season finale it was confirmed that there would be a second season. It is scheduled to appear sometime in 2025.
The anime is not only well rated, but is also well received by some authors in the MeinMMO editorial team. The protagonist Maomao in particular makes the anime so worth watching. She is a real competitor to Sherlock Holmes as she solves the most complicated cases in a friendly way.
MeinMMO author Marie Friske explains why she thinks the anime is so good: If you like Sherlock, you should definitely watch an anime with a brilliant pharmacist
