The icy challenge of families with children – basting on an ice floe: "Super lovely"

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

This spring-winter’s new trend seems to have become ice floes. A few weeks ago, Efter fem reported on a couple who sawed an ice floe – and went to town. Now it has happened again. Two families with children in Dalarna have taken ice skating to a whole new level, reports SVT. The families sawed off the ice sheet themselves, turned on an electric motor and set off on a trip along the Sundbornsån. Here there are deck chairs, a sauna and all the comforts you can imagine. – It was a fantastic experience, super lovely! The sun was shining and the spring birds were chirping in the background. The stove crackled in the sauna, says Johan Brandberg, one of the fathers who rode the ice floe. The children kept calm during the journey on the ice floe, and played calmly. So no one fell in. – It wasn’t an action-packed adventure, but a nice family outing. – I don’t want to lure anyone else out on thin ice. But if you go out on an ice floe, you have to expect that you will splash in, and that you have to be able to swim in with the children. If you feel comfortable with it, then you can do it. On board the ice floe, the Brandberg family had a sauna tent – and the ice floe lasted the entire journey. – Yes, the heat is rising. We sailed around for three hours. It is important to have sufficiently thick ice, that it is core ice all the way, says Johan Brandberg.
