The icebreaker Frej, together with some other icebreakers, conducts a tour and visits various cities in Sweden with the aim of arousing interest in work in shipping.
It was four years since the last time an icebreaker invited a visit to Örnsköldsvik. In 2019, the icebreaker Atle visited the city and attracted many visitors.
Big challenges
It is a big challenge to recruit personnel in shipping and within the next three years over 2,000 people need to be recruited to the industry.
Captain Göran Forss is satisfied with the great interest in Örnsköldsvik and hopes that more people will open their eyes to jobs within the Swedish Maritime Administration.
– It’s great fun, we hope to find several interested parties who want to work.
