Going shopping at Ica is something most Swedes have done at some point in their lives. ICA today has over 1,300 stores in Sweden with around 50,000 people working in offices or in one of ICA’s stores.
As an employee at Ica, you need to function as a bit of a multi-tasker in almost all areas of the store, even though perhaps your particular area is in the charcuterie, inside the dairy, among fruit and vegetables or simply sitting at the till.

On a daily basis, as an employee at Ica, you need to interact with customers who may wonder where a specific item is or perhaps which sausage is best for the barbecue evening. In an interview with a store manager who works at an Ica store in central Stockholm, there is also another thing that can take up part of the day.
DON’T MISS: Many customers sneer before the eyes of the ICA staff
– Sometimes people can realize that they didn’t “need this particular item” and therefore just put it on a shelf where they are standing, instead of going back and putting the item where it really should be. And yes, it will be us employees who have to run around and put things back, begins the store manager.

– The worst of all is when it’s frozen goods that people may have put among the oranges, or vice versa, when someone put something that shouldn’t be frozen – in the freezer, he concludes.
Ica Maxi is mocked for its advertising
ICA’s popular advertising with Ica-Stig and the gang has also become an accepted thing to watch in the evenings on the sofa and that many stores have chosen to acquire their own social media to be able to interact with their customers locally. Over the years, some stores have amassed quite a large following on their social media – including Ica Brottbyhallen, which today has over 100,000 followers on TikTok.

Some customers consider it irresponsible that they are “filming during working hours” while other customers consider it a perfect type of advertisement for the grocery store.

But one Ica store that has now received attention for its advertising is Ica Maxi Eskilstuna. On Instagram, the store published advertising for a day when the store has some extra nice offers, something that in the Ica sphere is called a very specific thing – namely “Smack i bang”.
In the video, employees are seen pointing at it and shouting “Smack i bang”.
The whole thing was noticed by the account @manorkarjuinte which today has over 348,000 followers. And the comments, well they have been pouring in to say the least.
Some of the comments read:
“The salary increase to get me to participate in this does not exist”
“There is something certain about these local ICA commercials. They make you shudder and smile at the same time as you ask yourself the question “why”
“Smack i bang could be the title of a dirty movie”
“Damn that’s embarrassing”
“For men to put up with stuff like this…”
The phrase “Smack i bang” has been used by more stores on social media and means that the store on that particular day has better prices and offers.
So, maybe it wasn’t that dirty.
