Gun Fahlander, representative of the hunters’ association in Jämtland, wants the state to continue managing the permits for hunting in the mountain world, instead of the Sami villages being allowed to do so in the future, which is part of the proposal that was presented today by the reindeer herding committee. Continued discussions are to be held, but this may become a reality when the main report is presented in 2025.
The National Confederation of the Swedish Sami, SSR, is not satisfied either. In an interview with SVT Sápmi, chairman Matti Blind Berg says that the plains committee is delaying the issue and that the existing HD ruling is being rounded off by not doing anything already.
