The help of the medical staff was needed in the soccer Nations League match Holland-Hungary.
A person who had a seizure was treated on the away team Hungary’s bench in the 7th minute of the game, and the Nations League match was suspended in Amsterdam.
The Hungarian players negotiated for a long time, but decided to continue the match.
When the game was later allowed to continue after a quarter of an hour, VAR found a hand foul from the Hungarian player worthy of a penalty kick. Holland’s Wout Weghorst shot from the ensuing spot to give the home team a 1–0 lead in the 22nd minute.
36 years old Adam Szalai according to various sources, is the person in the background who had the seizure. He is a football legend of the country and officially ended his playing career on January 19, 2023.
The Hungarian Football Association has informed that Szalai’s condition is stable and he is conscious. Szalai, who is part of the coaching team, has been taken by ambulance to the hospital in Amsterdam for more detailed examinations.
Szalai has played 86 international matches in the Hungarian shirt in his playing career and scored 26 goals in them.
He played his last season in 2021-22 at FC Basel. In the Bundesliga, the leading man who finished 276 matches and 54 goals represented in Germany e.g. Hoffenheim, FC Schalke and Mainz.
