Teemu Selänne is in trouble.
The Finnish legend is heavily criticized for his behavior with his daughter.

Teemu Selänna is one of Finnish sports’ greatest, and a true legend in NHL circles. He broke through with a bang already in his historic debut season in the NHL, and then dominated the world’s best league for many years under the nickname “Finnish Flash”.
Criticized now
Even today, he has true cult status in his home country of Finland, but that does not mean that he is free from criticism. In a video that Selänne posted on his Instagram story, you can see him sitting in front of the wheel and driving a car, with his daughter in the back seat. The remarkable thing is that the car is in motion while he is filming, which is strictly prohibited in Finland.
In the video, Selänne films her daughter and another person is also in the car singing. In the clip, he says: “I don’t need stereos”‚ and several times in the video, Selänne has his eyes straight into the mobile phone and camera rather than the road. It is unclear if the film actually takes place in Finland – or a country where it is actually legal to fiddle with the mobile phone while driving – but the whole thing has led to big reactions in the neighboring country.
“That’s scary”
Several major newspapers pay attention to Selänne’s video, and many are now heavily criticizing the legend for his actions.
“It is frightening,” writes Ilta-Sanomat.
“Selänne’s shock in the traffic”, writes Iltalehti.
As Selänne only posted the video as a story, it is not possible to see comments on it, but presumably many people would have been furious if it was possible to comment on the post.
Teemu Selänne was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2017, and to this day he holds several club records for Winnipeg and Anaheim. His number eight is retired by the Ducks, and with 1,457 NHL points, he is arguably one of Finland’s all-time greats.
