According to data from the US meteorological service’s National Center for Environmental Protection (NCEP), the record temperature recorded on July 3 was the hottest day in history, surpassing the 16.9 degrees Celsius measured in August 2016.

While the US has been under the influence of a heat wave in recent weeks, China has been struggling with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees.
