A hostage situation “with several people involved” is ongoing in the small town of Ede in the Netherlands. “There are no signs of terrorist motives,” police write on X (Twitter).
The incident is taking place at a nightclub that was open until 04:00 this morning, local media reports. A large police effort is focused on the scene, and the surrounding area is evacuated according to the police.
But beyond that, information is scarce, say reporters on the scene.
– There are lots of police and firemen here. But we don’t see much, large screens have been placed, says journalist Marc Hamer according to the media company NOS.
