According to the Bild magazine, the suspected perpetrator apparently killed his own mother before the hostage situation began.

The hostage situation in the center of Dresden in Germany has ended. The police say in a Twitter message that the situation is over, and that the hostages are apparently unharmed.

Bild magazine (you switch to another service)the suspected perpetrator is believed to have killed his own mother in a private apartment before moving to the center of Dresden. In the central area, a 40-year-old man first tried to break into the premises of the radio station and fired shots.

He then broke into a pharmacy in the Altmarkt-Galerie shopping center and took two hostages. According to Bild, a woman and her child were taken hostage.

The police closed the city’s Christmas market and advised to avoid the Altmarkt-Galerie area, said Frankfurter Allgemeine newspaper (you will switch to another service). Traffic to the center of Dresden was completely cut off.
