The hospital director on the health care situation in Kronoberg: “Large influx of patients who put up with it”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Region Kronoberg has gone into staff mode after the burden on the healthcare system worsened. Planned operations – except for cancer operations – have been cancelled.

– It has been tough throughout the fall, but last week was the worst, says hospital manager Florence Eddyson Hägg on Tuesday morning.

She says that the load has become too high due to the RS virus, coronavirus, flu season and that many people are injured in the winter ice.

– Just on Monday we had a lot of fractures.

Criticized by the medical association

Edvard Lekås, who sits on the board of the medical association, has directed heavy criticism at the hospital management. He believes that the hospital does not have enough preparedness to handle tough periods – and that it is primarily a matter of a shortage of nurses and a poor working environment.

– We certainly work on the work environment, so I don’t think that’s right, says Florence Eddyson Hägg.

The hospital management makes new assessments every day and will update the situation if it worsens or improves. Right now, the news is that planned operations are canceled until Wednesday of next week.
