The horror of the carousel – the passengers get stuck upside down

The ride at the Oaks Amusement Park in Portland became a nightmare for the 28 passengers on board on Friday.

The ride “AtmosFEAR” crashed and the passengers were hanging upside down. After about half an hour, the rescue service managed to lower the attraction manually.

“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the emergency crews and our own staff for taking quick action, which led to a positive outcome, and to the rest of the park’s visitors who quickly followed instructions to evacuate the park to allow the emergency crews to attend about the situation,” writes Oaks Amusement Park in a statement.

A passenger with an underlying medical condition had to be taken to hospital, but otherwise no injuries were reported.

The attraction remains closed until further notice. The amusement park must investigate in more detail what caused the accident.

The “AtmosFEAR” ride has been in operation since 2021 and has had no previous incidents, according to Oaks Amusement Park.
