Normally, the production of sequels to successful Hollywood films can’t go fast enough, but the people behind the John Wick series are taking their time. John Wick: Chapter 5 hasn’t even had a cinema release yet. But How long do we really have to wait for the action sequel with Keanu Reeves?
Before John Wick 5 comes Highlander with Henry Cavill
Last week, rumors were circulating that John Wick 5 would be filmed next year. However, this rumor is false, as our well-connected colleagues at Collider have learned from their own sources. John Wick 5 will not be filmed in 2025 And what’s worse, as far as fans’ hopes are concerned, the film doesn’t even have the green light from those involved.
Director Chad Stahelski, the head of the series alongside Reeves, will next devote himself entirely to the remake of Highlander. Henry Cavill plays the lead role in the fantasy film about immortal warriors.
Before John Wick: Chapter 5, Chad Stahelski wants to gain more experience
Stahelski has been awarded the “John Wick with swords“, and now he is actually supposed to make it happen. According to Collider, Stahelski will shoot Highlander in Scotland in early 2025.
It looks like Stahelski’s wish to gain more directing experience before another Wick film is finally coming true (via Screen Rant ).
John Wick continues – but not with John Wick 5
Meanwhile, the Lionsgate studio continues to work hard on the development of the John Wick franchise. The spin-off film Ballerina will be released on June 5, 2025 in German cinemas, in which Bond girl Ana de Armas will meet Reeves and others.
Additionally, a sequel series titled John Wick: Under the High Table is in the works, which will follow the events of Part 4. A spin-off film about Donnie Yen’s Caine from Part 4 is also planned.
