When we think of countries that prospered thanks to their colonies, we think of France of course, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands or Spain. We rarely think of Switzerland, on the other hand. You may never have owned colonies and may have built your fortune on the exploitation of the people and natural resources of southern countries, in fact actively participating in colonization. This little-known part of Swiss history is on display for the first time at the national museum in Zurich.
