When three thieves tried to steal electric scooters from 10-year-olds at a soccer field in Örebro, they were stopped – by 16-year-olds Dante Stålberg, Olle Leonardsson and Emil Johansson.
They ran after and wrestled down one of the thieves.
– Then I pushed him into a ditch. I put the scooter behind me so he wouldn’t be able to ride it again, says Olle in TV4’s Efter fem.
When Dante Stålberg, Olle Leonardsson and Emil Johansson were to play football last Saturday, at Lugnets IP in Örebro, they saw something that made them intervene. Which Nerike’s all kind was the first to report on.
– Some ten-year-olds were supposed to meet in a match and during the match we notice that there are three men trying to steal their scooters. When we see this, we don’t think, we just run after them, says Dante in After five.
Olle arrives before the others:
– I told the man who was at the back, behind the bull on the scooter, to stop. But he didn’t. Then I pushed him into a ditch. I put the scooter behind me so he wouldn’t be able to ride it again.
The thief pulls out a crowbar
Olle tried to hold the man until his friends caught up, but was pushed by the man who threatened him.
– It was not known if he had anything dangerous on him.
During the commotion, exclusive Legos, which the thief had probably stolen, also fell into a ditch. He also had an attachment.
– He picked up a crowbar and threatened us and we backed off immediately. Then he continued walking into an industrial area with a smaller road. Then he put down the crowbar and picked up a bigger rock, then we backed up further. Then he continued towards dense forest and we didn’t think it was worth following anymore, says Emil.
10-year-olds’ joy
Although the thieves managed to escape, the 10-year-old teammates were delighted that their electric scooters were saved.
– They were very happy. They said they were grateful we helped, says Dante.
They later encountered a woman who called 112. The guys talked to the police about what happened, but have not heard anything more about the case since then.
