Sarah Sjöström is one of Sweden’s top athletes ever.
And this summer, the 30-year-old will compete in his fifth consecutive Summer Olympics.
Now two Swedes want to give the swimming queen the biggest tribute.
She has won everything that can be won and is one of Sweden’s greatest sports heroes of all time. Sarah Sjostrom can proudly display 1 Olympic gold, 20 WC gold and 29 European Championship gold from the phenomenal career.
Sjöström’s career
This summer she will compete in her fifth consecutive Summer Olympics and it is staggering when you consider that she already made her debut during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. After that, there have been the 2012 Olympics in London, the 2016 Olympics in Rio, the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo and now she will be chasing new medals at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Despite the fact that Sjöström turned 30, which is considered old in swimming, the Swede is still one of the world’s best swimmers. Now two Swedes want to give Sarah the biggest tribute.
Tribute to Sarah
The Liding Islanders Thomas Helmet and Kevin Dixon wants the new swimming hall being built in Dalénum to be named after the Swedish world star Sarah Sjöström.
“Sarah lives today in Lidingö and it would be an honor for her for several reasons and a source of pride for us Lidingö residents if the swimming hall were to be called the Sarah Hall”, they write in a submission to Mitt i Stockholm.
“This name is clearly much more personal and apt than, for example, Lidingö’s swimming pool that we have heard some municipal politicians have mentioned”.

The new swimming pool is expected to be ready by autumn 2025 and is quite expensive. Therefore, it would be the ultimate gift to Sjöström to put her name on the building.
“Sweden’s best sportsperson ever is Sarah Sjöström. There is no Swede who has achieved her achievements and that in a discipline – swimming – that is competed in all over the world. And Sarah continues to win medals in the World Cup and Olympics,” writes the Lidingö residents in their submission.
Surely Sarah Sjöström deserves this kind of tribute? Share the article and have your say!
