Dominik Hasek is one of the best goalkeepers ever.
Now a video of the icon has sparked strong reactions in hockey.

If you have to rank the world’s best hockey goalies of all time, it will undeniably come Dominik Hasek high on the list. The Czech big goalie played a total of 18 seasons in the NHL for the teams Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators.
Hasek’s career
Hasek won back-to-back Stanley Cup titles with Detroit, won Olympic gold with the Czech Republic and took home a slew of individual awards for his big play between the posts. After the end of his career, he has been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in North America and also in his home country he has received the greatest honor.

He has donated the goalkeeper icon’s old protection and equipment to the Czech Republic’s Hall of Fame to be displayed to the public. They have been there for many years to the great astonishment of the spectators, but it will no longer be like that.

For now, the Czech Republic chooses to close down its very own Hall of Fame. Now a video of Hasek has spread throughout the hockey world and it arouses very strong emotions.

The clip, which you can see below, shows how the goalkeeper hero collects his old protection and equipment in a shopping cart.
“Dominik Hasek himself had to pack everything into shopping carts and drive the things away with his own car,” writes the outraged journalist Zdenek Janda on Twitter.

“Really sad”
Hasek has also given away old game jerseys, the iconic Vezina Trophy and even Stanley Cup rings. Many do not think this is unworthy of a great national hero like Dominik Hasek, see the video below.

It is true that the Czech Republic is the host country for the hockey World Cup next year. Earlier years, the Czech Ice Hockey Federation also announced that the Hall of Fame would be closed and that a virtual variant would be established while moving the Hall of Fame exhibit to another venue.
But what happens with Dominik Hasek’s memorabilia remains to be seen.
