The minister also underlined the negative impact of this crisis on third world countries and their food security. Egypt imports a good part of its wheat from Ukraine. However, Russia remains the leading supplier of the 10 million tonnes of wheat imported annually by Egypt.
Egypt is the world’s largest buyer of wheat and the largest consumer of bread per capita.
