Serge Njibu, deputy rapporteur of the CSAC, denounces a ” attempted murder after the beating by elements of the Congolese diaspora. He demands accountability from the French authorities.

With our correspondent in Kinshasa, Pascal Mulegwa

There is a feeling of indignation in the Democratic Republic of Congo after the aggression in the night from Saturday to Sunday of Christian Bosembe, president of the Higher Council for Audiovisual and Communication (CSAC). He was attacked in Paris by people presented as “combatants”, a term which designates violent militants opposed to the Congolese authorities.

The video of his attack circulated on the internet like wildfire. We see Christian Bosembe struggling against people, mostly Congolese, who call him ” collaborator of the Kinshasa regime.

On Sunday, the CSAC gathered to strongly protest and even demand ” clarifications from the French government.

That a president of a democracy support institution was brutally and cowardly attacked, without any intervention being carried out, while President Christian Bosembe is on an official mission, in consultation with the French authorities. It’s very shocking. He was even suffocated. It was an attempted murder of a DRC official […] The CSAC demands from the French authorities clarifications, investigations, to arrest, judge and condemn the perpetrators of these crimes. Condemnation until the repression of these professionals of the chaos that France shelters so that they can also come to undergo the rigor of the law, here in the DRC.
