One of the managers of the Social Democrats’ lottery was wanted in Sweden, reports say The Express.
At the same time, he managed sales from Barcelona.
According to the newspaper, he has connections to Malmö’s gang milieu.
The telemarketers targeted confused elderly people to sell Social Democrats lottery tickets, revealed Dagens Nyheter earlier this week.
From an office in Barcelona, the sales company Effective communication made expensive subscriptions sound like individual ticket purchases.
According to The Express was one of the managers of the operation wanted in Sweden after not having turned up at the institution where he was supposed to serve a prison sentence.
The man has connections to the gang milieu in Malmö and has been convicted of several crimes. He is said to have also been in custody for aiding and abetting murder and two shootings without being convicted of a crime.
– He was there every day and controlled everything. He was the one you had to meet with if you were not good, says a salesperson to Expressen.
Effective communications CEO Rickard Blom writes to Expressen that they did not know the man’s background and that the whole thing is “deeply unfortunate”.
“When he was hired, this was unknown to us. If I remember correctly, however, he told another colleague about it occurring around the same time as the sentence became statute-barred. Then it became known to us,” he writes in a text message.
