The head of the Air Force of Ukraine is fired

Mykola Oleshchuk, head of the Ukrainian Air Force, has been fired, reports AFP.
The announcement comes the day after the news that a Ukrainian F-16 plane crashed.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy states that Oleshchuk is fired to strengthen the Ukrainian military leadership.

On Monday, one of Ukraine’s six US-made F-16s crashed just weeks after being delivered. The pilot was killed in the crash, which is said to have occurred due to a malfunction and not due to Russian shelling.

“Communication with one of the planes was lost when the plane was flying towards a new target. Later it became clear that the plane crashed, and that the pilot was killed,” the Ukrainian military wrote.

However, Ukraine confirmed the crash only on Thursday. The warplane was used for the first time this week to shoot down Russian robots, according to Zelensky.
