Canadian women’s national soccer team coaches caught spying on opponent at Paris Olympics.
Head coach of the Canadian women’s national soccer team Bev Priestman38, has been fired over the Paris Olympics spying scandal. Also included in the team’s coaching Jasmine Mander mixed Joseph Lombardi was fired.
Canada’s coaches were caught spying on an opponent’s practice when an unaccredited official from the Canadian team flew a drone over New Zealand’s practice before the tournament began.
The three coaches were already sent home during the Olympics, and the International Football Association Fifa punished the Canadian team with a six-point deduction. In addition, Priestman, who coached the team to the championship in the Tokyo Olympics, was suspended for a year.
Canada’s run at the Olympics ended in the quarterfinals when they lost to Germany in a penalty shootout.
