The gunshot wound man is no longer life-threateningly injured

– He is now classified as seriously injured, but we still haven’t been able to speak to him, says Robert Loeffel, the police’s spokesperson.

The man was first taken to the hospital in Växjö, but then on to another hospital that the police are not naming for security reasons. The man underwent surgery there.

Two were said to have fled after the shooting

It was last Thursday evening at around 19.30 that the police were called to Arenastaden in Växjö after reports of gunfire. Two men on an electric scooter were said by witnesses to have waited for the man, shot him several times and then fled. The police have not yet arrested anyone, but the investigation continues.

There must have been both a match and training activities in the area when the shooting occurred. During the initial work, the police stopped the spectators at the match from leaving the arena.
