Talks between the Colombian government and the guerrillas calling themselves the Central General Staff (EMC) have been suspended.

This is stated by EMC, which is a breakaway phalanx from the Farc guerrillas, in a statement. The dialogue between the parties began in September at the initiative of President Gustavo Petro.

The Farc guerrillas were disarmed in 2016 when they signed a peace agreement with then Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos. The movement was instead transformed into a political party.
