The African Handball Confederation (CAHB) drew lots for the next men’s African Cup of Nations (CAN 2022), finally organized from July 11 to 18 in Egypt. Cameroon and Morocco will share the host country pool.
Initially scheduled for January in Morocco, the 25th African Nations Men’s Handball Championship (CAN 2022) will finally take place in Egypt, the country which organized the 2021 World Cup. As a result, the Moroccans find themselves in group A with Egyptians, impressive during the 2021 Olympics, and Cameroonians.
Will Cameroon create a surprise during this tournament? the mission seems a little more affordable for the DR Congo, paid in group D, this May 26, 2022. The Congolese will be there with the Angolans, favorites, as well as the Senegalese and the Zambians.
Good draw for Tunisia
The two other major nations of African handball with Egypt (7 crowns), Tunisia (10) and Algeria (7) were also relatively spared from the draw. Especially the Tunisians who will play against Cape Verde and Nigeria, in group C. The Algerians, in group B, will face Gabon, Kenya and Guinea.
As a reminder, the African Handball Confederation (CAHB) has withdrawn the organization of this edition in Morocco and the next one in Algeria because of a conflict between the two countries around matches of this CAN 2022 planned in particular in Laayoune. , a city located in Western Sahara.
A CAN 2022 whose five best teams will compete in the next World Championship, scheduled from January 11 to 29, 2023 in Poland and Sweden.
