Zombie films are rarely produced with blockbuster budgets, since horror productions only reach an adult audience due to their age rating. In 2013, however, Paramount dared to attempt the zombie apocalypse into a summer blockbuster. You can currently stream the result on Netflix.
World War Z is the title of the zombie horror smash hit that brought the living dead to the big screen ten years ago and would break box office records. At the production however, a lot went wrongfrom creative differences to extensive reshoots and exploding budgets.

In World War Z, we follow Brad Pitt’s Gerry Lane as he tries to save his family during a pandemic. Suddenly, everyone around him turns into hungry undead. A struggle for survival ensues around the planet and ends in a facility of the World Health Organization.

Originally, World War Z had a completely different ending. The third act was reshot to fit the studio’s vision. So there are many scenes that we will never see, including a 12-minute one Zombie battle with a bearded Brad Pitt in frigid Moscow controlled by a brutal regime (via Vanity Fair).
The original version adopts a darker tone and boils down to the moment when Gerry is with his ally the Oregon coast is storming. There he hopes to find his family. Before that happens, however, he must endure another bloodbath. We will probably never see this version of World War Z.
We’ve been waiting for the sequel for 10 years: is World War Z 2 coming with Brad Pitt?
Since the theatrical release of the first part, there have been reports and rumors about a sequel. The project became most concrete when David Fincher hired to direct became. In the end, World War Z 2 didn’t happen. In February 2019, Paramount pulled the plug and, after much back and forth, stopped development completely.
