Expectations are really high for 18-year-old Alvar Myhlback.
And now he has had a real dream start to the new ski season.

Although he is only 18 years old, the Swede has the giant talent Alvar Myhlback already made a name for himself in cross-country skiing. The teenager is one of the most promising cross-country skiers in Swedish skiing and has also received a lot of attention because he followed his very own path to reach the top.

Giant promise Alvar

Already at a young age, Myhlback combined both traditional cross-country skiing and long-distance running, where he surprised many with very impressive efforts. Last season was a great success for Alvar, who won double JVM gold, took an excellent third place in the Vasaloppet and deservedly had to make his senior debut at the World Cup.

For the coming season, he has made the decisive decision to invest wholeheartedly in traditional cross-country skiing and has set the Skiing World Cup 2025 in Trondheim as his big goal. Myhlback has also been rewarded with a special arrangement where he belongs to the Swedish junior national team and gets to train with the men’s A national team.

Myhlback’s success

During the sheep’s pre-season, the 18-year-old has continued to impress and shown that the future looks extremely bright. This weekend, Alvar Myhlback won the four-mile long Ski Classics Challenger competition Värnamorullen with a margin of over half a minute.

Behind the victorious Myhlback came the Norwegian Vebjörn Moen in second place and Swedish Max Novak in third place. On the women’s side, there was a real sprint battle with the winner Jenny Larsson was only a hair’s breadth ahead of second place Johanna Hagström finished and was third Hedda Bångman.
