Riksgymnasiet in Örebro is the country’s only municipally adapted national high school for deaf and hard-of-hearing students who have an intellectual disability. The school is also adapted for students with a certain type of language disorder or combined sight and hearing impairment.
In the government’s budget bill, they want to add extra funds to the school: SEK 10 million over four years.
Increased search pressure
The background is that they have seen increased application pressure for the school and want to make it possible for the municipality to continue offering the education.
In the proposal, the government writes that the funds: “Should ensure that everyone who has applied for the education and who belongs to the target group will get a place”.
SVT has tried to reach the school’s principal Jörel Bergström for a comment, but without success.
