The government wants to remove requirements for mother tongue education

In primary school there is no requirement for prior knowledge, and then it should also be the same in upper secondary school, the government thinks.

Six minor languages

– All children and young people who belong to a national minority must have the opportunity to preserve and develop their culture, language and identity, says Education Minister Lotta Edholm (L) in a press release.

The national minority languages ​​are Finnish, Yiddish, Meänkieli, Romani Chib and Sami.
