The agency will carry out preparatory work to propose the formation of a national park for parts of the ecoparks Böda and Hornsö in Kalmar County, Halle- and Hunneberg in Västra Götaland County and Hornslandet in Gävleborg County.
In other respects as well, the authority will “increase the pace of work on developing proposals for new and expanded national parks”.
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency must also analyze obstacles and opportunities for sustainable nature tourism in national parks and other formally protected areas and provide proposals on how this type of activity can be promoted.
Today there are 30 national parks in the country. The land in those areas is owned by the state.
