People who support the crime of criminal networks should be able to be banned from staying in a certain area.
It is proposed in a memorandum that has now been submitted to the government.
– This is a very concrete proposal that is about increasing security in areas that can be feared as being exposed to serious crime by criminal networks, says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer to TV4 Nyheterna.
The law shall cover persons aged 15 and over and shall apply for up to one year, says investigator and councilor Sara Markstedt.
– The idea is that if several people receive a stay ban at the same time in an area with a high level of conflict, the risk of people who are in conflict with each other meeting in the streets and squares is reduced. Then it is impulsive shootings, acts of revenge and spirals of violence that can be prevented, says Sara Markstedt.
Should the ban be broken, it could result in imprisonment for up to one year.

“Requested by Swedish police”
The law has previously been used, among other things, in Denmark and Norway to get rid of the criminal networks.
– They have looked at the international background. And this is something requested by the Swedish police, says Gunnar Strömmer.
Is there a risk of moving the problems around to other areas?
– Of course, it can always be said that various measures aimed at certain geographical areas can have effects elsewhere. At the same time, the alternative cannot be to sit with our arms crossed and just wait for the crime, says Gunnar Strömmer.
The memorandum proposes that the law enters into force in one year, on July 1, 2024.
