In France, between 500,000 and 700,000 people will lose their health pass this Saturday, January 15, for lack of having received their booster dose. They had seven months after their last injection to do so. The government is increasingly increasing the pressure on the non-vaccinated.

Since the start of the epidemic, Sophie has reviewed her lifestyle, she goes out much less than before, uses a friend’s pass. But each time, you have to organize yourself, be sure that there will be no identity checks.
Now, it will even be impossible to go to the show, to dine at a restaurant or even to take the train for all those who have not received their booster dose of the anti-Covid vaccine in time. A measure effective since mid-December for those over 65 and today, according to the Ministry of Health, would concern nearly 560,000 people. The time between the booster dose and the initial vaccination schedule has also been reduced to four months. These measures which then intervene the deputies adopted at second reading this Saturday, the controversial bill transforming the health pass into a vaccine pass.

So to find a little lightness in her daily life, Sophie could get vaccinated. But other arguments also come into play: I’m not a big fan of drugs. When I’m sick, I wait for it to pass by itself. So there, getting me a vaccine for something we don’t know is a big risk for me. And afterwards, I have the thought of saying to myself: well, everyone gets vaccinated, you don’t get vaccinated, think of others, maybe you are endangering others. At the same time, there are so many uncertainties. Vaccinated people can be contaminated, can be contagious. I don’t know, I’m wondering “.
Sophie talks about it a lot with those around her and with caregiver friends. No one really manages to reassure her. But his decision is almost made. It is therefore reluctantly and with fear in her stomach that she will receive her first dose. About 5 million French people are not vaccinated.

A new vaccine to attract the reluctant?
Meanwhile, the High Authority for Health has just authorized a new vaccine allowing those refractory to RNA vaccines to do otherwise. This is an argument that many unvaccinated people use, they are not anti-vaccination, but do not trust the products of Pfizer and Moderna because they use the messenger RNA technique. However, they are the ones that are recommended and almost exclusively used today.
To convince the refractory, the High Authority for Health (HAS) relaxes this protocol. They will be able to use two traditional technology vaccines. First of all, that of Janssen, already known and used. This viral vector vaccine can therefore now be administered to all people over the age of 55 who do not want RNA.
Then there is the newcomer, Novavax and its recombinant proteins. It has just been authorized by the HAS and this time all age groups will be able to benefit from it.
Vaccines based on messenger RNA, those of Pfizer and Moderna remain recommended and the HAS indeed asks to privilege them. They remain the most effective against Covid-19.
