The government calls on higher education institutions to strengthen preparedness after the freezer failure at KI

– It is a tragedy, says Minister of Education Mats Persson (L), about KI’s destroyed research.

It was at Christmas that the Karolinska Institute in Huddinge had problems with freezers that are supposed to keep minus 190 degrees. Irreplaceable biological research material was stored in the freezers.

Education Minister Mats Persson has visited the affected facility and says that the government has been in contact with the country’s universities. He believes that all research facilities must increase their preparedness.
